    Dr. Kate Ackerman is a triple board certified physician (Internal Medicine, Sports Medicine, Endocrinology) and a global leader in female athlete health. She directs WHSP Medical and the WHSP Institute, integrating research and clinical care to advance women’s sports medicine.

    Ellen Geminiani, MD

    Dr. Ellen Geminiani brings three decades of experience in figure skating and Team USA care, including the 2018 Olympic Games. She specializes in primary care sports medicine with deep expertise in aesthetic and performance-driven sports.

    Dr. Zainab Shirazi is a dual board certified physician in Sports Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She brings elite team coverage experience—across NCAA Division I, Olympic/Paralympic, and professional levels—along with procedural expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound and regenerative medicine.

    Courtney Peck is a certified physician associate specializing in sports medicine. At WHSP, she provides efficient diagnosis, coordinates treatment across multiple specialties, and prioritizes clear communication to empower athletes in their recovery and performance.

    Katie Hughes, PA-C is a certified Physician Assistant with a background in kinesiology. A former NCAA Division I distance swimmer, she brings a strong foundation in exercise science and research-driven care, with a particular interest in female athlete health and performance.

Nutrition

    Laura Moretti Reece, MS, RD, CSSD, LDN

    Laura Moretti Reece is a board-certified specialist in sports dietetics and former Lead Dietitian for the Boston Children’s Hospital Female Athlete Program. She has advised the Boston Ballet and USRowing and serves on the USOPC REDs Expert Advisory Panel.

    Nicole Farnsworth is a board-certified sports dietitian specializing in performance nutrition, LEA/REDs, and perinatal and postpartum athletes. A former Division I heptathlete at Harvard, she brings both clinical expertise and firsthand athletic experience to her practice.

    Caroline (Carly) Robinson, MPH, RD

    Caroline Robinson, MPH, RD, is a registered dietitian with degrees from UMass Lowell and Holy Cross, where she also competed as an NCAA Division I runner. She specializes in athlete-focused nutrition, helping clients optimize health, enhance performance, and sustain long-term well-being.

  • Emilie Burgess Horvath, MS, RDN, CSSD, LDN

    Emilie Burgess Horvath is a board-certified specialist in sports dietetics with expertise in low energy availability (LEA), Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs), and eating disorders. She has served as a Sports Dietitian for USA Track & Field, the University of Washington, and Brown University, and has supported both the U.S. Women’s Rugby and U.S. Equestrian teams as a contract dietitian.

  • Amanda Waldron, MS, RDN, CSSD, LDN

    Amanda Waldron, MS, RDN, CSSD, LDN

    Amanda Waldron is a board-certified sports dietitian specializing in performance nutrition, LEA/REDs, and eating disorders. She serves as the sports dietitian for Harvard University and has experience working with athletes from a wide range of sports. A former Division I runner for the College of the Holy Cross, she integrates her clinical expertise with her lived experience as an athlete in her practice.

Mental Health

    Maddie Barron, Psy.D, HSPP

    Dr. Maddie E. Barron is a licensed clinical and sport psychologist and former Division I athlete who leads the Mental Health & Performance Psychology practice at WHSP, specializing in evidence-based care that supports the mental well-being, resilience, and performance of elite athletes.

    Abbie Keane, Clinic Coordinator

    Abbie Keane earned her bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences and Nutrition from Northeastern University, where she rowed for five years and captained the women’s team. Her experience as a student-athlete sparked her passion for women’s health and supporting fellow athletes. Abbie is dedicated to creating a welcoming, supportive patient experience, and outside of work she enjoys strength training, pilates, baking, and exploring Boston’s coffee scene.

    Abbey O’Connell, Clinic Coordinator

    Abbey O’Connell holds a degree in nutrition and dietetics from the University of New Hampshire and is passionate about balanced living. A lifelong soccer player, she brings that same energy to her work and wellness. She enjoys working out, cooking, baking, and spending summers in Maine.

    Jen Thompson is a dedicated advocate for women’s health and wellness. As a mother of two daughters, she is committed to ensuring women of all ages have access to care and resources that support their strength, resilience, and well-being. Outside of her work, Jen enjoys the outdoors, traveling, reading, and time with family.
