Johanna Clair, Ed.M., CMPC

Mental Health & Performance Psychology, WHSP Medical

Johanna Clair is a mental health clinician and performance consultant dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based and personalized care that allows athletes to perform and thrive.

Johanna earned her Master of Education from Boston University where she was dually trained in Counseling and Sport Psychology. She completed her master’s clinical training at Groton School, a high-academic boarding school, and then went on to work at Nourished Minds, a private practice specializing in eating disorders and OCD. She also completed sport performance placements at Boston University, Brandeis University and Wellesley College. Shortly after graduation, she earned her Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), a credential recognizing specialized training in the mental skills that support athletic performance and well-being.

Johanna believes that mental health and performance are not competing priorities, but rather deeply interconnected parts of a healthy and fulfilling life. Her clinical work focuses on supporting adolescents and adults navigating a range of concerns, including anxiety, mood, eating disorders and perfectionism. Her performance work focuses on helping athletes manage nerves and doubt, maintain focus, sustain motivation through mistakes and navigate transitions out of sport. She takes a collaborative, athlete-centered approach to care, drawing on several evidence-based modalities.

A former collegiate softball athlete and coach, Johanna understands the demands and culture of competitive sport from both sides of the athlete-coach relationship. Her background in sport continues to shape her work and fuels her belief in the powerful role that sport can play in a person’s life. She looks forward to helping athletes build the awareness, flexibility and resilience needed to pursue excellence while creating sustainable, values-driven lives both in and out of sport.
